As the first of Netherlands motor boat
hirers Yachtcharter Wetterwille has converted one of his
boats with
diesel propulsion to “hybrid series” propulsion! The advantage of hybrid sailing
is that the boat is always silent. You sail silently through
Frisian nature.
Hybrid
Series:
Here the prop shaft is driven only by the electric motor, the
only source of electricity being batteries which in
turn are
recharged by a diesel unit fitted in the boat. Solar cells help the unit to recharge the batteries.
Therefore you can sail continuously, without any concern.
The experience of electric sailing Apart
from the facts of electric sailing, also the experience
is important.
Yachtsman of sailing boats who are forced due to circumstances to stop
sailing and turn to motorboats,
very often try to postpone this decision for as long as possible because
they would lose the tranquillity
and peaceful atmosphere they experience when sailing.
Quite and clean are the main elements of electric sailing.
The prominent noise of the engine, resonation and irritable little noises
have become history.
Also reversing has a surprising effect, due to the fact that the electric
motor immediately provides full
capacity the boat will come to a stand still in minimum time.
And how about approaching a bridge, a lock or a mooring place? Having the
possibility to operate
at very low rpm it’s much easier to control the boat.
Very handy and pleasant control of the boat by cross wind.
The province of Friesland is trying to
achieve CO2-free sailing in Friesland by 2020.
With this boat, Yachtcharter Wetterwille is already meeting
these requirements now.
